New NSF award: Advancing the Dissemination of the Creative Art of Structural/Civil Engineering

The overarching goal of the project is to transform introductory courses on civil engineering with research-based pedagogical techniques, and support the dissemination of the courses for STEM and non-STEM at other colleges/universities. This is a collaborative project between Princeton University, University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and CUREE (as a subaward to Princeton). This goal addresses the concerns about STEM education identified by the NAE, ASEE, PCAST and reviews on adoption of engineering education innovations: uninspiring introductory courses, poor teaching, teaching STEM to non-STEM majors and dissemination of best practices.
